DEEP ELM RECORDS RELEASES "THE MARCH" OFFICIAL MUSIC VIDEO BY LIGHTS & MOTION

Deep Elm Records is pleased to announce the official release of the music video for "The March" from the critically-acclaimed debut "Reanimation" by cinematic post-rock powerhouse LIGHTS & MOTION. The video was directed by Swedish cinematographer Fredrik Sellergren. This album (as well as Deep Elm's entire catalog of 200+ releases) is now available on a Name Your Price basis here.

Soon after the completion of a successful crowd-funding campaign for the video, primary shooting began at the Delsjon Nature Reserve in the band's hometown of Gothenberg, Sweden with additional footage captured a month earlier at Trollveggen (The Troll Wall) in Norway. The video features actors Danielle De Vries (of The Gothenburg Opera Dance Company) and Joakim Envik Karlsson (a freelance dancer and film director). Vidar Hwang also assisted during the shoot.

"Christoffer visualized the video being a clash between two individuals in an epic environment. So I thought we should have nature be the storyteller. Let's create a showdown between two forces of nature, presented in human form with space and time unknown. We created a battle of strengths between darkness and light without drawing on the standard good versus evil premise. While the dark represents uncontrolled brute force, the light uses the trees, wind, water and fog around her to locate the darkness and bring it out of his body. That said, a lot is up for the viewer to decide," says Sellergren.

When asked why he chose to make a video for "The March", Franzen replied, "I think that every album ever made has some sort of bedrock on which the remainder of the tracks rest upon. To me, that track was always "The March" on Reanimation. And I wanted to cement that foundation with a video. The song is very cinematic in its ebb and flow and I knew it would look visually stunning in Fredrik's skillful hands. I'm very happy about what we were able to accomplish. I wanted to have something that was very much open to interpretation while still presenting a strong visual identity. It's a dark fairytale that deals with doubt, fear and dreams. Special thanks to all of the fans who supported us in making this incredible video."

LIGHTS & MOTION's braintrust is 25 year old, self-taught multi-instrumentalist, producer, recording engineer, mixer and all around musical savant Christoffer Franzen. All songs are created and composed in real-time during late night insomniac sessions by pure accident, improvisation and inspiration. LIGHTS & MOTION has released two full-length albums including "Reanimation" (Jan 2013) and "Save Your Heart" (Nov 2013) to glowing reviews and has also made available a collection of 22 unreleased songs through www.deepelmdigital.com. In early 2013, the band released a video for "Home" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBxkJ0Bl9mY) also from the debut album "Reanimation" and also directed by Fredrik Sellergren. The music of LIGHTS & MOTION is currently being featured in the movie trailer for "Transcendence" starring Johnny Depp / Morgan Freeman, the movie trailer for "Lone Survivor" starring Mark Wahlberg and also appears in the movie trailers for "La Vida Robot" starring Marisa Tomei and "Homefront" starring James Franco, Google's OSCARS commercial as well as other notable projects for Princess Cruise Lines, Lionsgate, World Bicycle Relief, USAid, Aston Martin, Singapore Airlines, NBC, Georgia Pacific, FosterMore, Phillips 66, The Four Seasons and more.

Genre: Cinematic Post-Rock

Already having received well-deserved critical acclaim for pioneering an entirely new dimension of the post-rock genre, the four Swedes better known as MOONLIT SAILOR have done it yet again on We Come From Exploding Stars. Their fourth album is, without question, a big step for the band. Firmly entrenched in the quasi-pop / post-rock foundation they are known for, the Sailors continue to expand the blueprint for the future of post-rock. They've mastered the overlap of indie and post-rock...and beautifully so. From the melodies you think you've heard before (but haven't), to the arpeggios that swallow you whole, to the powerful crescendos that devastate your senses, their music is a prime example of just how effective instrumental music can be. Devoid of all lyrics, the music alone speaks for itself...and it speaks volumes. (DER-554)

"One of the post-rock bands that stands out from the crowd. Damn near flawless..." - StereoKiller
"Captivating. The band channels every facet of human existence into their art." - Absolute Punk

In mid 2012, Accents came out of nowhere with an astonishingly mature debut Growth And Squalor that bled pure indie rock bliss. Now back as a five-piece, the soon to be heralded Tall Tales (featuring Hold Me Close) sounds more like their fourth or fifth album together, not a sophomore effort with three new members. Certain to cement the band as far more than a one-genre pony, Tall Tales epitomizes synergy among musicians. Tall Tales offers a diverse set of songs with a wide range of styles, but it's the honesty behind every note, every melody and every lyric that undeniably threads them all together. Whether the tale you're listening to is fact or fiction, one thing that's certain is that it's the absolute, concentrated best of what each of these fine musicians has inside themselves. (DER-556)

Deep Elm is about bands and fans coming together as one and experiencing music's awesome ability to inspire, comfort and console. Deep Elm is now offering the download of every album in our catalog on a Name Your Price basis (pre-orders and gifts are $1 minimum). Your support of our artists is a key element in the creation of the music that moves you, so if you have the means please show them love by Naming Your Price. If not, in exchange for each download we kindly request that you post, share, tag and tweet to tell your friends about the album as our bands depend on your word of mouth. We're not just making music together, we're making history.

Deep Elm is responsible for seminal releases by Lights & Motion, The Lions Rampant, U137, Carly Comando, The Appleseed Cast, Accents, Dorena, Moonlit Sailor, Latterman, Our Lost Infantry, Last Lungs, This Drama as well as our 12 volume compilation series "The Emo Diaries" featuring Jimmy Eat World. You may be surprised to learn that Deep Elm's entire artist roster has been built solely by bands submitting their music to the label. We don't require multi-album agreements. Our bands call Deep Elm home because they want to, not because they have to. This is the way to build a record label. We release albums that move our hearts and for no other reason. Fairness to the artist and undying integrity in all that we do have been guiding principles at Deep Elm since day one.

Deep Elm is recognized as one of the industry's premiere indie music licensing resources and has provided pre-cleared, cutting edge music to tastemakers worldwide from our catalog of 2,000+ original songs and instrumentals. Our music has appeared in feature films, indie films, movie trailers, TV commercials, TV shows, movie soundtracks, video games, trade shows and online promotional campaigns. Our clients include Google, The Oscars, Apple Computers, Warner Bros, Universal, Red Bull, Monster, Microsoft, Four Seasons, Billabong, Phillips 66, Chevrolet, Cartier, The NFL, Nissan, Microsoft, Shimano, Philips 66, Vodafone, Kenneth Cole, Rip Curl, NBC, AMC, Petcurean, MTV, Mastercraft, HBO, Vans, Sony Pictures, Fox, Fuel TV, CBS, The CW and many more.

In 2014, Deep Elm celebrates our 19 year anniversary as an independently owned and operated record label. Deep Elm is part of a threatened breed of "true independents" that exist for the love of music. Most so-called "indie" labels are, in fact, funded and distributed by major record labels and their affiliates. Not Deep Elm. On a completely self-sufficient basis and without any outside support, Deep Elm competes in an industry dominated by corporate giants. We are proud to be 100% independent. So if you like what you hear, spread the word. And we'll make sure these bands are there when you need them.
